Interesting take. I went to Taormina 13 years ago and absolutely loved it, then again 3 years ago. Both times I stayed at the Belmond Grand Timeo - a truly breathtaking property. The town has become increasingly overcrowded in recent years and I must say, the experience I had 13 years prior was more enjoyable due to less crowds/mass tourism. However the Grand Timeo will always be a special slice of paradise and reprieve from the masses. If anyone is looking for a more untapped Sicilian experience - head to Panarea. Although I probably shouldn’t share it, since it’s still a jewel and not known to the masses ;)
